Turning Negative to Positive

Our spiritual and emotional growth in A.A. does not depend so deeply upon success as it does upon our failures and setbacks. If you will bear this in mind. I think that your slip will have the effect of kicking you upstairs, instead of down. AS BILL SEES IT. p. 184

The ups and downs of life come so unexpected at times. You can be flying as high as a bird and gliding in the glory of your life and existence with God within a second you can be shot down with a pellet and then hope for recovery.

I was once told by a man I admire in the program that a slip can sometimes be the best things that can happen to you, it will make you realize you don't want to go back and live the troubled life you have been trying to crawl out of. I think an accidental occurrence in your life without using can bring back on the emotions of an addict without being in active addiction. It can bring you down just almost to the rock bottom that helped you beginning your recovery process.

Today, It's not a day at a time, it's a moment at a time. A task as small as dusting can make you feel as though you have climbed the highest mountain. It is because of God. Only because of him.

Falling, stumbling, slipping, pushing away urges can feel like you are fighting a punching bag that will never let down. Today I am taking it moment by moment to turn the negative into the positive only by the grace of my Higher Power, God. I am too tired of fighting. Today I want the destination not the journey.
