God Speaks To Us...

If we listen. If we listen then we will receive. Receiving will then lead to giving.

When I began my recovery process I chose a sober living house. It was one of the wisest and most pivotal decisions that I have made in my life. The house had rules, chores and checklists that I had to apply to my life daily in order for me to continue my residency there. I then learned how to live a sober life and "live life on life's terms" once I left. I could not have created this structure on my own and in my life if it had not been for this organization.

During the holidays my inner dialogue was speaking to me that it was time for me to give back. Possibly give money to the organization that taught me how to be free of my addictive behaviors. A few weeks later I listened to a sermon on how our inner dialogue would be that of God, if we were to listen. The gentleman spoke of giving back with wanting nothing in return. He gave examples of giving a vehicle to someone that was in need of one, paying a mortgage for a family in distress. Ha. It then dawned on me that this is where my thoughts had come from...God.

Living at this house introduced the word "humble" to me. I now have a shared success that I could lend to someone else. I could now humbly give back to this organization what they had so willingly shared with me. Giving to open the door to receive more of the life of selfless giving and receiving.

Listen to your inner dialogue. What is God saying to you? You may not be able to give monetarily but you are able to give your time and shared experiences. Where can you "share your Experience, Strength, and Hope"?

GodSpeed.

Some people share their "Experience, Strength and Hope", by attending 12 step meetings and letting the newcomer see what continued sobriety brings into ones life. By taking the 12 steps, I built a relationship with God, my Higher Power, from Whom all good things come. One Day At A Time, Mary Lee
